Gergely Devich at the Eurovision Young Musicians competition
The Liszt Academy has double reason to be proud: the organizers of the competition are promoting the 15-year-old cellist of the Special School for Young Talents using our short film made at the official reopening of the academy on 22 October 2013.
The European Broadcasting Union initiated the foundation of the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in 1982. So far Hungary has entered the classical music contest, the ‘younger brother' of the famous Eurovision Song Contest, twice. This year's competition sees young musicians playing a variety of instruments from 14 member countries: Austria, Croatia, Greece, Germany, Moldova, Poland, Slovenia, Norway, Malta, Sweden, Portugal, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Hungary.
In the final on 31 May, which will also be transmitted live by Hungarian public broadcaster M2, Gergely Devich will perform the Allegro appassionato by Saint-Saëns, while in the pre-round he plays works by Haydn, Liszt and Bartók with piano accompaniment by his mother, Mária Kovalszki. Both can be seen in the clip filmed at the official reopening of the academy on Liszt Ferenc Square on 22 October 2013. The minute-long video also plays a prominent part in the advertising of the competition: the competition organizers and partners use the short film put together by the Marketing and Communications Department of the Liszt Academy to promote Gergely Devich right up to the semi-finals.

The Media Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA) nominated Gergely Devich to represent Hungary at the contest. The 15-year-old cellist is taught by László Mező in the preparatory class of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, in the Special School for Young Talents.
