Organ masterclass and a concert possibility in the Palace of Art (Mupa) in Budapest

The Liszt Academy of Music and the Palace of Art (Mupa) in Budapest jointly announce an organ masterclass (3-5 July, 2017)  led by Zsigmond Szathmáry the retired professor of the University of Music Freiburg and László Fassang the professor of the Liszt Academy of Music Budapest and the Conservatoire in Paris.

The masterclass is unprecedented since those who are accepted as active participants based on their previously sent recordings have not only the chance to play on the organ of the Mupa, but will also have the opportunity to perform on a public concert. The professors  intention is to prepare the participants in frames of a public masterclass for their performance on the closing concert. At the same time, the audience will also have a glimpse into the secrets of the artistic process during which performances are polished through thousands of hours of practice.

 

Programme

3rd July: 14:00-19:00 – public masterclass
4th July: 10:00-13:00, 15:00-18:00 – public masterclass
5th July: 10:00-13:00 – public masterclass
5th July: 19:30 – closing concert with the participants and professors of the masterclasses

The languages of the masterclasses: Hungarian, English, German, French

Course participation is free of charge.

Further incurred costs (travel, accommodation, subsistence) are covered by the participants. Active participants can practice on the organ during early and late night hours.

Application eligibility for active participants

Active participants of the masterclass can only be either organ students or graduates of a higher education institution. The application is open for everyone without regard to citizenship or age.

- for student applicants: a certification of student status
- for graduate applicants: the copy of the diploma
