Sound in movement: A workshop for conductors and musicians

4 January 2018

The topic of the five days workshop (on 8, 9, 16, 17, and 18 January) are the gestures of the performing artist, the quality, direction, and speed of the conductor’s hand movements, their representation in cinema, theatre and multimedia art, the performativity of a concert versus the musicality of performativity.

Participants of the workshop get the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the frequently used gesture repertoire of the intersections of conducting, music, movement art, and acting, and also to analyse the connections between the sheet music and the gestures, as well as to study the relations of the audible and visible (movement) components of music performances in theory and practice.
