András Pálfy success at the Citta di Porcia international trombone competition

Liszt Academy student András Pálfy came third at the 26th Citta di Porcia international trombone competition organized in Italy in November 2015.

 

András Pálfy is a second year masters student at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and trombonist with the MÁV Symphony Orchestra. He pursued secondary school studies at the Dohnányi Ernő Vocational School of Music as a student of Csaba Péterfia, Norbert Laczkó and Tamás Farsang. He launched his higher education at the Department of Music, University of Szeged in 2010 under the guidance of György Gyivicsán and József Vörös, while he is a student of Gusztáv Hőna at the Liszt Academy. In 2013 he joined the MÁV Symphony Orchestra, where currently he is principal trombonist.

 

 

Jury chair of the Citta di Porcia international trombone competition (9-14 November) was Enrique Crespo, with András’s former teacher, György Gyivicsán, among the members. The heats and semi-finals featured several compulsory works for trombone by, among others, Bozza, Berio, Xenakis and Cimpanelli. In the final, competitors had to play Nino Rota’s Trombone Concerto.
