Kurtág-Ligeti masterclass at the Liszt Academy

The course, which is also open for foreign students is provided by two acknowledged professors of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Gábor Csalog and András Kemenes. As a guest performer, Balázs Horváth composer is participating in the five days program as well.

The 90 years old György Kurtág is celebrated with a course by the Chamber Music Department of the Liszt Academy of Music. Together with him, Gábor Csalog and András Kemenes also involved the life work of the other greatest Hungarian composer of the second half of the 20th century into the program of the course.

On the Hungarian and English speaking classes the piano, chamber music and vocal works of György Kurtág and György Ligeti  are on the focus. The audience can get insight into the learning process of works like the etudes of Ligeti written for piano, Hommage á Robert Schumann, chamber work by Kurtág for piano, viola and clarinet, parts of the series 'Játékok' by Kurtág, and the songs of Kurtág and Ligeti with piano accompaniment.

On the first day of the course Gábor Csalog and András Kemenes are giving an opening concert, and the closing of the program is a concert by the students of the course. The performance of Balázs Horváth – who is going to examine the life works of the two artists from a composer’s point of view - is going to make the event even more colourful.

The full program of the course for elementary and secondary music teachers is also announced as a 30 hours further training of educators. The topic of the course: Improvisation and Performer Skills Developement; György Kurtág: Játékok; The role of games in the teaching of piano.
