Gordon Murray, the Canadian-born harpsichordist, fortepianist, and organist has been a professor of University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 1986.

After graduating from McGill University in Montreal, he pursued organ and harpsichord studies in Paris. His masters were Marie-Claire Alain, Gustav Leonhardt, and Kenneth Gilbert. He has gained his reputation in Europe and North-America both as a soloist and continuo player as a member of ensembles such as Hesperion, a Concentus Musicus Wien, Clemencic Consort, and Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

In addition to holding numerous master classes, he is a regular guest of major festivals, and a jury member of international competitions. His recordings have been released by Erato, and Harmonia Mundi.

His repertoire encompasses the whole harpsichord literature from the works of English virginalists to contemporary composers. He has particularly gained appreciation for performing French Baroques pieces and the Viennese music (last decades of the 18th century) of the transition from harpsichord to fortepiano.
