Celebrating Helmut Lachenmann’s 80th birthday, Trio Catch has been holding workshop focusing on one of the composer's famous piece, Allegro Sostenuo. Helmut Lachenmann has worked with the trio since their formation, and he has been following their carreer.

 

The speciality of the pieces is its ability to translate traditional form into contemporary music language, with experimental devices. The performers analyze these aspects of the pieces, from compositional and instrumental points of view.

 

 

Part I

Origin

  • the introduction of the music material through special performing techniques
  • parts and zones in the piece, Lachenmann's own division, examples performed by the musicians

Performance of the piece in its entirety

  • questions, discussion with the participants

 

The course is open for composers and instrumentalists.
