The most important class, however, for me and for hundreds of other Hungarian musicians, was the chamber-music class. From about the age of fourteen, and until graduation from the Academy, all instrumentalists except the heavy-brass players and percussionists had to participate in this course. Presiding over it for many years was the composer Leó Weiner, who thus exercised an enormous influence on three generations of Hungarian musicians.

Bank of China Scholarship for the academic year 2017/2018


The Bank of China Hungary together with The Friends of Liszt Academy and the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music founded the Bank of China Scholarship with the aim of supporting the musical education of the highly talented Hungarian and international students of the Liszt Academy.

Who can apply?

Full-time students can apply from any school year of any BA or MA instrumental and vocal art programs. The scholarship can be used for tuition fee, instrument and instrument case, expenses related to masterclasses and competitions or any costs occurred in connection with the studies.

Amount of the scholarship

For the 2017/18 academic year the amount of the scholarship is 500.000 HUF per student.

The selection process

The Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music and the Friends of Liszt Academy will conduct a preliminary selection of the submitted applications and will propose 20 students for the scholarship to the Committee consisting of the representatives of Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, the Friends of Liszt Academy and the Bank of China (Hungary) Close Ltd.

This Committee will select the 10 scholarship holders.

The list of the grantees will be announced on the 12h January 2018.

Responsibility of grantees

Grantees have to perform at the Bank of China gala concert to be held on the 10th February 2018 in the George Solti Chamber Hall of Liszt Academy. All grantees have to submit a written report about the use of the scholarship by the end of September 2017.
