Changes in the curriculums from 2014-15

Modifications in the curriculums as of 2014-2015

 

The changes detailed below come into effect in the academic year 2014-2015 and also apply to students who started their studies before and have not obtained their final certificate. These students are not obliged to complete the courses affected by the changes made in the curriculums, however, they must earn the corresponding number of credits by completing other courses, for example elective subjects.

 

1. There has been a new course announced and integrated in the curriculum of the specializations (Classical Piano, Classical Organ, Classical Harpsichord, Classical  Harp, Classical  Guitar, Classical  Accordion, Classical Cimbalom, Classical Violin, Classical Viola, Classical Cello, Classical Double Bass, Classical Flute, Classical Oboe, Classical Clarinet, Classical Bassoon, Classical Horn, Classical Trumpet, Classical Trombone, Classical Tuba, Classical Percussion instruments, Classical Singing) of Performance (BA) study programmes: Historical Performance Practice – compulsory in semester 5 and 6, 1 lesson/week, number of credits: 1, practice. In these curriculums, the elective courses' total number of credits is reduced by 2 credits.

 

2.

a) There has been a new course announced and integrated into the curriculum of the specializations (Classical Flute, Classical Clarinet, Classical Bassoon, Classical Horn, Classical Trumpet, Classical Trombone, Classical Tuba) of Performance (BA) study programmes: Wind Ensemble – compulsory in semesters 1 to 6, 1 lesson/week, number of credits: 1, practice. In these curriculums, the elective courses' total number of credits is reduced by 6 credits in addition to the reduction according to section nr. 1.

 

b) There has been a new course announced and integrated in the curriculum of the specializations (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba) of Classical Musical Instrumental Performance (MA) study programmes: Wind Ensemble - 1 lesson/week, number of credits: 1, practice. In these curriculums, the number of credits of the course Orchestra is reduced from 4 to 3 credits in each semester.

 

3.

a) The number of classes/week of the course Orchestra changes from 6 to 8 in the following Performance (BA) study programmes' curriculums: Classical Violin, Classical Viola, Classical Cello, Classical Double Bass, Classical Percussion and in the following Classical Musical Instrumental Performance (MA) study programmes' curriculums: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Percussion.

 

b) The number of classes/week of the course Orchestra changes from 6 to 7 in the following Performance (BA) study programmes' curriculums: Classical Violin, Classical Viola, Classical Cello, Classical Double Bass, Classical Percussion and in the following Classical Musical Instrumental Performance (MA) study programmes' curriculums: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Percussion.

 

c) The number of classes/week of the course Orchestra changes from 3 to 4 in the following Performance (BA) study programmes' curriculums: Classical Harp, Classical Tuba and in the following Classical Musical Instrumental Performance (MA) study programmes' curriculums: Harp, Tuba.

 

4. In the curriculum of the Performance's (BA) Classical Singing specialization the following changes have been made:

 

a) the courses Acting and Diction are cancelled and merged into the course Diction and Acting – compulsory in semesters 1 and 2, 2 lessons/week, number of credits: 1, practice;

 

b) the number of credits of the course Movement Technique (compulsory in semesters 3-4) changes from 2 to 1 credit;

 

c) there has been a new course announced: Study of Musical Styles – compulsory in semesters 1 to 6, 1 lesson/week, number of credits: 1, practice;

 

d) there has been a new course announced: Performing on Stage – compulsory in semesters 3 to 6, 3 lessons/week, number of credits in semesters 3 and 5: 2, number of credits in semesters 4 and 6: 3, practice;

 

e) the new properties of the course Chamber Singing are the following: compulsory in semesters 1 to 6, 2 lessons/week, number of credits: 2, practice (previously: compulsory in semesters 3 to 6, 2 lessons/week, number of credits: 3, practice).

 

5. In the curriculum of Classical Singing - Oratorio and Song Performance (MA)

 

a) the course Chamber Singing is cancelled;

 

b) the number of lessons/week of the course Coaching (compulsory in semesters 1 to 4) changes from 1 to 2.

 

c) the new properties of the course Lied Repertoire are the following: compulsory in semesters 1 to 4, 2 lessons/week, number of credits: 2, practice (previously: compulsory in semesters 1 and 2, 1 lesson/week, number of credits: 2).

 

d) the new properties of the course History of Oratorio and Lied are the following: compulsory in semesters 1 to 4, 2 lessons/week, number of credits in semesters 1 and 3: 2, number of credits in semesters 2 and 4: 3, exam (previously: compulsory in semesters 1 and 2, 2 lessons/week, number of credits: 1, exam).

 

6. In the curriculum of Classical Singing – Opera Singing (MA) the new properties of the course Study of Musical Styles are the following: compulsory in semesters 1 to 4, 1 lesson/week, number of credits in semesters 1 and 3: 1, number of credits in semesters 2 and 4: 2, practice (previously: compulsory in semesters 3 and 4, 1 lesson/week, practice).
