ROUNDTRIP Presented by Liszt Academy

Balázs Horváth, one of the most talented and productive composers of his generation, is also active as a conductor within the Hungarian contemporary music scene. His works and viewpoint are experimental;  reinterpretation of instrumental and ensemble music characterised them. He will perform the most significant brass chamber pieces of the past 15 years in various formations during tonite’s recital, ranging from brass quintett to trombone octet. Each instrument will also play solo. This one-and-a half-decade cross-section visualises the artist’s development throughout his work and his relation to the instruments. “I have always been interested in brass players, particularly in those irregular technical solutions that are not typically linked to their sounding.”

Real celebrities will perform tonite for the Old Music Academy’s audience. Besides having an old professional relationship with Balázs Horváth, the majority of the artists have graduated from the Liszt Academy of Music, and György Gyivicsán, Tamás Pálfalvi and Roland Szentpáli from the soloist have just been appointed teachers of the Academy.
