People have always been excited by above-average performance, apparently superhuman capabilities that marvel the onlooker. There is no lack of wonders in the music world, either, one just has to consider the wunderkinds: for instance, Liszt, who at the age of 11, at his first public appearance in Vienna, improvized on themes given by the audience, or Saint-Saëns, who aged 10 offered as an encore to play any of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas, from memory. However, those with remarkable abilities not only lived long ago, they are with us today as well. ‘Talent obliges,’ Liszt believed, and although he was thinking that it was the duty of talented artists to use their wealth for the common good, the saying can be applied to the Liszt Academy: talent obliges to set out the pathway and introduce gifted artists to the public. At this recital, student artists of the Liszt Academy Special School for Young Talents present their skills in collaboration with Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra set up in 2010.
