Conductor

He was born in Istanbul in 1969. After finishing at the Istanbul Conservatory in 1975, he went to Budapest in Hungary, and studied piano at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music between 1987 and 1993.  He received his master's degree as a pianist in 1993, and continued his studies as conductor at the Liszt Academy, where he concluded his studies as master of music in orchestral conducting in 2000. He has conducted many orchestras including St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Komische Oper Berlin, and Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai. In 2002, he founded the Artemisia Chamber Orchestra in Budapest of which he is the Artistic Director. Ertüngealp was a principal guest conductor of the Savaria Hungarica Symphony Orchestra from 2001 to 2004. In 2002, he won the first prize in the Dimitri Mitropoulos International Conducting Competition, which was held in Athens. Since 2011 he works as assistant conductor of Claudio Abbado.
