The most important class, however, for me and for hundreds of other Hungarian musicians, was the chamber-music class. From about the age of fourteen, and until graduation from the Academy, all instrumentalists except the heavy-brass players and percussionists had to participate in this course. Presiding over it for many years was the composer Leó Weiner, who thus exercised an enormous influence on three generations of Hungarian musicians.

Glossary of academic and music terms

Hungary is a small monolingual country, which might make it difficult for international students to make themselves understood, as well as understand important information related to their studies. With the help of teachers and students, the staff at the Study Department therefore have compiled lists and summaries of academic and music terms in English, Hungarian and Japanese, which will hopefully help international students express themselves when there is a language barrier.

Suggestions, corrections, new entries, and versions in other languages are appreciated and warmly welcome. We would like to make this a joint-project that will benefit the students, the teaching staff and the staff of the Study Department.
