„Now I would like to give back as much as I can of what I picked up over time. I think it is important to give the defining impulses to budding young artists, because these days it’s far harder to start out on a career in the right direction than in my time.” These are the words of Zoltán Kocsis when, on the occasion of a joint concert with the Zugló Philharmonics Budapest, he was asked about his relationship to the younger generation. Once again in September he passes across to the ensemble (awarded the title National Youth Orchestra three years ago) some of what he has “picked up”. He leads the orchestra in a recital of the fourth Brahms symphony closing with the captivating chaconne movement and the Dvořák cello concerto that was much admired by Brahms. The first cellist of the orchestra, Péter Háry, will be soloist for the latter work.
