Dmitry Sinkovsky is a multifaceted musician in the strictest sense of the word. Violinist, conductor, singer. The artist who has a cabinet full of glittering international competition trophies (for example, Bach, Musica Antiqua, and Romanus Weichlein Competition) is a specialist in Baroque music, a true virtuoso, a person with genuine magical podium presence and someone who regular appears together with star ensembles such as Concerto Köln and Il Giardino Armonico. He is the founder of La Voce Strumentale. For a few years he travelled the world as head of Il Barocco Complesso alongside Joyce DiDonato, among others. Sinkovsky, who has revealed a talent for film acting in his clips, would stand a good chance of being awarded the title countertenor playing a violin most proficiently, or perhaps the title violinist with the finest voice. For example, one of his duet partners was the phenomenal soprano Julia Lezhneva and the audience of the Liszt Academy enjoyed their joint appearance in spring 2016. For this concert Sinkovsky plays a special selection of works by Johann Sebastian Bach in the company of Budapest’s Aura Musicale, the ensemble headed by Balázs Máté, and the New Liszt Ferenc Chamber Choir, who have extremely close connections with the Liszt Academy. Following the first part of the programme featuring orchestral and concerto works, the second half is devoted to one of Bach’s boldest secular cantatas, commissioned by the students of Leipzig university in 1725.
