„To me, this event is definitely the higlight of the recent season, a rare occasion to be given a free hand in putting together the concert programme and in choosing my chamber musician partners. As for selecting my solo piece, I had a limited choice concerning the authors; besides Bach and Bartók, Ysane is one of the most popular composers in the field of violin solo pieces. He is the less known author among the three even though his compositions are up to theirs.
Maxim Rysanov and Pieter Wispelwey both are epic musicians and I am delighted to have an opportunity to work with them. I am assured that the Mozart duet and the Chausson piece will equally be memorable experiences for me. Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in c minor is certainly not as popular as the trio in d minor although it provides a uniquely complex and uplifting experience to the performers and the audience as well. No wonder that this work has become one of my favourite chamber pieces.
I have been fortunate to step on stage with Enrico Pace several times. Our cooperation convinced me about his exceptional talent as a pianist and as a chamber musician and he impressed me with his open minded approach and flexibility too that characterise his musical profile.
When selecting the proper piano quartet piece, I tried to find a less overplayed work. There are plenty and I thought Piano Quartet in A Major by Chausson would be an exciting choice”.
