Once again, Kossuth Prize violinist Kristóf Baráti is headlining the Complete Works Live series, playing all Mozart’s violin concertos over three successive evenings accompanied by Prague Philharmonia. Baráti worked with founding conductor Jiří Bělohlávek (died: May 2017) on several projects. Since their establishment in 1994, the orchestra have looked on the performance of Mozart works as one of their missions – Bělohlávek adapted the characteristic tone of the ensemble to this in the course of his many years with them. The pairing of the orchestra’s fresh and energetic sound and love of music that pours out in the concerts with Baráti’s passionate and precise play guarantee an unrivalled experience. The two D major concertos were written by Mozart when he was just 19. The Adagio in E major was probably a replacement for the slow movement of the third (A major) violin concerto, after the soloist found the original music “too artificial”; however, the Rondo in C major came to life years later so it cannot be associated with another specific concerto.
