Glazunov, who emigrated to Paris in 1928, was quickly caught up by the new fashion for the saxophone and in 1932 he laid the foundations for the saxophone quartet repertoire, which the Ebonit Saxophone Quartet of Amsterdam perform in the Sir Georg Solti Chamber Hall. The mixed nationality ensemble formed in 2011 from students of the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music, and by now the innovative style and repertoire they represent has conquered much of Europe. They have played at dozens of international festivals and prestigious concert halls, as well as picked up top prizes at international competitions. The arrangement for the Scheherazade Suite is performed by the quartet in the company of 30-year-old Marcell Szabó, who graduated from the piano faculty of the Liszt Academy in 2012. He has won prizes at several distinguished competitions around the world and he was awarded the Junior Prima Prize in 2015.
