“If only the artist of the future would mark out the goal within himself, and not without, and virtuosity would be the means alone and not the ultimate aim. If only he always kept in mind that although according to the saying, Noblesse oblige, but at least as much, and rather far more, than nobility: GÉNIE OBLIGE (Genius obliges)!” Thus wrote Ferenc Liszt about Paganini in 1840, and he himself was an example to posterity of what talent demands of an artist. Above all else, the sharing of talent with the world. The Liszt Academy Concert Centre series launched in 2013 provides the opportunity for several students or ensembles of the Liszt Academy to present themselves every half year. Marcell Szabó drew attention to himself in 2014 with important competition results at international level, winning the 6th International Béla Bartók Piano Competition, taking third at the 33rd International Delia Steinberg piano competition in Madrid, and first prize at the 16th International Île de France piano competition in Paris. This year he was one of the jury-selected winners (headed by Zoltán Kocsis) of the Liszt Academy Careers Office tender, thanks to which he receives preferred artistic management support in his effort to promote himself on the Hungarian and international classical music scene. His solo recital of Romantic piano works has a carefully selected opus each by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff.
