Péter Csaba (conductor)
The combined work of two extraordinarily committed conductors provides us with a unique interpretation of Verdi’s Requiem on All Hallows’ Evening, known familiarly as Halloween. Born in Cluj-Napoca, Péter Csaba has been chief conductor of the distinguished MÁV Symphony Orchestra for more than a year; parallel with this he is also a well known figure in the music life of Sweden and France. An outstanding violinist, today he is more often seen wielding the conductor’s baton where he is recognized as a passionate and exhilaratingly suggestive artist. Zoltán Pad graduated and was later awarded a doctoral degree from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music; despite his relative youth his career has already been termed imposing. One of his key triumphs is the four years he has spent working with the Kodály Choir Debrecen. The mission these two conductors have been charged with is by no means simple: bring to life Verdi’s Requiem, and present – in all its variation and colour – the sometimes intense, sometimes sublime drama of this piece written specifically for the concert hall.
