Magnus Nilsson életrajza:
MAGNUS NILSSON, born in Gothenburg, Sweden. Bassoon studies with Arne Nilsson, Gothenburg and Asger Svendsen. At the age of 19 Magnus was appointed bassoonist in Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. In 1985 he was second prize winner in the IDRS Bassoon Competition, Boulder. After further studies for Marco Costantini (Rome) and Bernard Garfield (Philadelphia) he was appointed principal bassoon in Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra in 1987.
Magnus is one of Sweden’s outstanding bassoonists, founding member of Trio Altaïr (CD recording), Swedish Bassoon Quartet, Pollux Quintet and active as soloist. He has given recitals in Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Greece, Spain, England, Australia, the U.S., Korea and China.
In 2006 Magnus performed the world premiere of the bassoon concerto “Auroral Dances” by the Swedish composer Albert Schnelzer together with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, USA, followed by further performances with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra in 2008. In 2007 and 2009 Magnus was invited to Seoul for masterclasses at the South Korean Bassoon Summer Camp, solo recitals and concerts with the United Bassoon Ensemble.
